Behavior Analysis Center for Autism – BACA

BACA is looking for a part-time Occupational Therapist (OT) to join their growing therapy team in Elkhart, IN. We have educational centers that provides services for students with autism, as well as other related disorders. Our related services team consists of speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and music therapy. OTs are an integral part of our interdisciplinary team, supporting exceptional outcomes for our students. 

Responsibilities

  • Complete initial evaluation of client utilizing observation and/or standardized testing and establish an appropriate plan of care for each client
  • Collaborate with ABA staff, client family, and other professionals as needed to establish an appropriate transition plan for client upon discharge from BACA
  • Provide OT telemedicine evaluations and treatment sessions as needed for client's who are unable to participate in in-person services
  • Contact client-specific outpatient occupational and physical therapists, as appropriate
  • Make recommendations for appropriate outpatient services
  • Maintain contact with legal guardian(s) of clients, as appropriate
  • Attend parent and clinical meetings, as appropriate
  • Complete staff education as a whole or individually with staff members concerning Occupational Therapy topics, as appropriate
  • Post weekly schedule to inform staff of scheduled sessions with clients and availability for staff questions
  • Participate in projects to advance the Occupational Therapy program, as well as the center as a whole, as appropriate
  • Maintain up-to-date files on each client, including evaluations, checklists and samples of client’s work, as appropriate
  • Complete daily treatment session notes by 9:00 the following business day
  • Maintain accurate billing information for each client
  • Maintain Occupational Therapy equipment
  • Abide by rules and regulations of insurance companies if client is billed for Occupational Therapy services
  • Be available for consultation regarding VB-MAPP testing
  • Collaborate with appropriate members of client’s team concerning program planning

Qualifications

  • Have Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an academic program accredited by ACOTE and have received a passing score on the NBCOT exam
  • Have and maintain Indiana Occupational Therapy License
  • Experience working with individuals with Autism and other comorbid diagnoses ages 1-22
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and be able to make quick decisions and communicate readily
  • Transition from various sitting levels (child-sized chair, floor)
  • Able to sit in child-sized chair for at least 20 minutes
  • Able to go up and down stairs
  • Bending/Squatting
  • Able to lift and position a client with appropriate body mechanics with 1-3 person lifting/transferring techniques
  • Must be free of medications that would decrease coordination or alertness putting clients or other employees at risk
